Time for a closer shot – yup, it’s our Ben all right.

Taplow’s Latin teacher, Andrew, is leaving at the end of the school term. This is announced at the morning assembly, and Taplow’s reaction is caught above.

After morning prayers, Taplow looks for Andrew to ask him about switching to the Science class next term.

Ben finds Andrew sitting on the bench feeling thoroughly miserable.

Awww, too cute. Taplow asks the question about Science class.

Walking to his own class, Latin, we see why Taplow has his interest in Science, with the comedic goings-on with various experiments.

In class, Taplow laughs at a joke made by Andrew in Latin. Naturally he’s the only one who ‘got it’.

Taplow listens intently to Andrew’s reading of Agamemnon. You can really see Ben coming through in this shot.

In the shower’s, Taplow is intimidated by an older boy.

Taplow presents Andrew with a copy of Agamemnon he found at a junk shop – this is The Browning Version.

In receiving the book, Andrew is moved to tears. Here’s a close up of Taplow’s reaction.

The boys start their revenge to get their own back on the older boys.

Satisfaction for Taplow as the older boys find their bed full of worms.

In the closing scenes of the film, Taplow listens as Andrew delivers his apology to the school for ‘failing’ them as a teacher.

Taplow and the majority of the school applaud Andrew on finishing his moving speech.

Andrew & Taplow shake hands and thank each other.

Andrew grants Taplow his switch to Science. Delight!

Just watched the film again – a fine performance by Ben and, of course Albert Finney. Nice soundtrack too. This is just as good as, though different, the Michael Redgrave version.
